Preliminary work
- Refer to DISCONNECTING ALL BATTERY GROUND LEADS .
- Refer to BRINGING FRONT COMPARTMENT LID IN THE SERVICE POSITION .
- Refer to REMOVING THE COVER OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THE REAR LEFT .
- Removing the cover of the rear right engine compartment.
- Loosen the lock (1)
- Remove the cover (2).
Covering the vehicle battery

NOTE: The following step(s) must be performed if the listed component(s) is/are installed.- Cover the vehicle battery with the special tool 2 452 007 as shown.

- Removing conduit from bank 1.
- Loosen screws (1).
- Slide conduit (2) downwards.

- Refer to REMOVING THE RETAINING BRIDGE IN AN EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATION WITH A GASOLINE PARTICULATE FILTER .

CAUTION:
Components connected to the engine joint or cross member.

- Check lifting eyes and engine mounting brackets for damage, e.g. cracks.
- Attach the component to correctly mounted engine joints or cross members only.
- Only lift the component, do not shift it forwards, backwards or in transverse direction.
- If the engine is fastened in the installation position, the rear top cross connection (1) must be installed.
- Carefully position engine bridge with help from an assistant.
- Make sure that the special tools 0 496 438 (00 6 053) from the set of special tools 0 496 430 (00 6 050) correctly rest on the mounts for the hood latch.
- Make sure that the special tools 0 496 437 (00 6 052)
from the set of special tools 0 496 430 (00 6 050) correctly rest on the shock tower.
- By shifting it on the profile strips of the special tool 0 496 430 (00 6 050) , align the engine bridge above the engine mounting brackets and screw in place.
- Connect the hooks with the engine mounting brackets.

A wheel lifter is recommended for easier wheel removal and installation without exertion (see Dealer Equipment Catalogue).

- In vehicles with M Carbon ceramic brake: It is essential to use the wheel lifter to remove the wheel.
This process is intended to prevent damage to the brake disc.
- If several wheels are removed simultaneously: Use a piece of chalk to mark on each tire the axle and side on which the corresponding wheel is fitted.
- Release the lug bolts (arrows) crosswise and remove the wheel.
- For releasing and tightening lug bolts with the security code: Use the correct adapter from the set of special tools 0 492 518 (36 1 300) .
Remove the rear section of the wheel arch cover on the front left and right

- Remove screws (arrows).
- Guide the wheel arch cover (1) out.

- Release all bolts (arrows).
- Remove cover (1).
Releasing the engine support brackets on engine mounts on left and right
- Release screw (1) on the right engine support bracket.
- Release screw (1) on the left engine support bracket.
- Lift the engine by 10 mm by turning the spindle 2 361 506 (00 6 103).
