Removing automatic transmission (all-wheel drive vehicle) (GA8HP76Z)

WARNING: Hot surfaces  .
Risk of burning! 
  • Perform all work only on components that have cooled down.
WARNING: Vehicle may slip off the vehicle hoist if the vehicle hoist is handled incorrectly  .
Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries! 
NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
Mechanical effects  .
Paint damage  .
  • Mask those working areas at risk with yellow plastic adhesive tape.
  • Remove and install heavy or bulky components with the aid of another person/other persons.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
In order to guarantee the quality of the Driver Assistance functions in vehicles with concealed radar sensors, the component may be repainted only in compliance with the following instructions.
No stickers or films (transparent or colored) may be affixed in the transmission areas of the radar sensors.
If there are no radar sensors fitted, the component may be painted.
The following features can be used to identify whether radar sensors are installed on the vehicle:
Radar sensors are installed at the rear if the triangular warning light is present on the exterior mirror (in the mirror glass or on the mirror frame).
Radar sensors are installed at the front and rear if the triangular warning light is present on the exterior mirror (in the mirror glass or on the mirror frame) in conjunction with optional equipment S5ATA or S5AUA.

Preliminary work 

CAUTION: Materials harmful to health  .
Contact with fluids harmful to health! 
  • Note and follow safety instructions on containers.
  • Conduct all work in appropriate personal protective equipment only.
NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
Damage to the engine block  .
Serious damage to the engine block and transmission due to damaged and corroded screws  .
  • It is imperative that protruding threads of the transmission bolts are checked for corrosion and damage prior to removal.
  • It is imperative that all rust is removed from corroded threads and that they are cleaned prior to removal.
  • Replace rusted and damaged bolts.
NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
Damage of components in the engine compartment  .
When removing the transmission, the tilting of the engine may cause damage to components in the engine compartment  .
  • Before removing the transmission: Support the engine.
  • Protect engine from tipping movements.
  • Follow the specifications in the repair instructions.
NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
Damage to the transmission  .
Damage to the transmission due to unapproved transmission oil  .
  • Use only the approved transmission oil.
  • Check the transmission oil level after completing the repair.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
Only G05 and G07 On vehicles with an active stabilizer (ARS), the fan cowl must be removed to crank the engine.
