- Before performing any work on the airbag, always disconnect the battery ground lead from the battery.
- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

Preliminary work

- Refer to PREPARING THE SPECIAL TOOL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE OUTER FRONT WINDOW CHANNEL STRIP .
- Refer to RELEASING THE FRONT DOOR WINDOW GLASS .
- Refer to REMOVING FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to DISCONNECTING ALL BATTERY GROUND LEADS .
- Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT MODULE BRACKET .
- Refer to REMOVING FRONT DOOR WINDOW GLASS .
- Refer to PARTIALLY RELEASING REAR INNER WINDOW CHANNEL STRIP .
- Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE .
- Remove plug (1).
- Detach the Bowden cable (1) from the clip (2).
- Loosen nuts (3).
- Carefully push the power windows (4) to the side.
- Unclip the clips (1) and the place the wiring harness (2) aside.
- Unlock and disconnect the electrical plug connection (1) on the door lock (2).
- Unclip clip (3).
- Feed the vehicle wiring harness (4) out of the guide (5) and set it aside.
- On equipment specification with soft-close automatic:
- Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1).
- Unclip the clip (2) and the place the wiring harness (3) aside.
- On equipment specification with soft-close automatic:
- Release the rubber mount (1) on the door (2).
- Feed the soft-close motor (3) with the rubber mounts (1) out of the door (2).
- Loosen screw (1).
- Remove the cover (1).
- Remove seal (1) for the external door handle.
- Loosen screw (1).
- Slide the outside door handle support (2) forwards and feed it out inwards.
- Unclip locking rod (1).
- Loosen screws (2) and (3).
- On equipment specification with soft-close automatic:
- Feed the outside door handle support (1) with the door lock (2) and the soft-close automatic (3) out of the door (4).
Make sure that the seal of the door lock (2) is not damaged.
- Feed the outside door handle support (1) with the door lock (2) out of the door (3).
Make sure that the seal of the door lock (2) is not damaged.
