18 00 020 Removing and installing complete exhaust system (I01)
Compliance with the following points is mandatory before beginning work:
- Observe the SAFETY INFORMATION for working with electric vehicles.
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove SERVICE CAP IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT .
- Remove SUPPORT FOR BUMPER PANEL at rear.
- Remove UNDERBODY PANELLING at rear.
Removal:
Unscrew nuts (1).
Unfasten screws (2).
Release screws (1).
Unscrew nuts (2).
Release screw (1).
Unscrew nuts (2).
Remove heat shields.
Release screws (1).
Release screws (1).
Release clamp (1).
Remove exhaust system.
Preparation for installation:
Check rubber mount for damage, replace if necessary.
Center 45 mm at the exhaust pipe of the catalytic converter using a measuring tool and mark the area with a paint pen (if necessary with temperature-resistant ink).
Clean the catalytic converter exhaust pipe using a wire brush.
When reinstalling the previous rear silencer:
Clean the rear silencer exhaust pipe using a wire brush.
Installation:
If necessary, renew clamp.
Push the rear silencer onto the catalytic converter up to the beginning of the mark (1).
Tighten clamp (1).
Tightening torque 18 30 3AZ .
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 18 20 2AZ .
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 18 20 2AZ .
Mount the heat shields.
Tighten screw (1).
Tightening torque 18 30 6AZ .
Tighten down nuts (2).
Tightening torque 18 30 5AZ .
Tighten down nuts (1).
Tightening torque 18 30 5AZ .
Tighten down screws (2).
Tightening torque 18 30 6AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Check the tightness of the exhaust system and check for a sufficient distance to neighboring components.
