Replacing a ball joint in lower steering stub/wheel carrier
Special tools required:
- 33 3 010
- 2 360 786
- 2 240 469
The ball joint may not be reused after it has been pressed out!
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove REAR WHEEL .
- Remove CAMBER ARM ,
Removal:
Pull out ball joint with the special tools 33 3 010, 2 360 786 A and 2 240 469.
Installation:
Draw in new ball joint (1) with the special tools 33 3 010, 2 360 786 A , 2 360 786 B and 2 240 469 up to limit position.
NOTE:
Special tool 2 360 786 B
serves as an end stop.
Required follow-up work:
- Install CAMBER CONTROL ARM .
- Install REAR WHEEL .
- Carry out wheel alignment procedure. Refer to CARRY OUT KINEMATICS DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM WHEEL ALIGNMENT WITH VEHICLE LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or KINEMATICS DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM WHEEL ALIGNMENT WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT LOADING THE VEHICLE .
