Removing and installing/replacing front air duct (S55 engine)
Carry out this repair only when the engine has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove right-hand INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
- Remove IGNITION COIL COVER .
- Remove top rear AIR DUCT .
- Remove STIFFENING PLATE .
- Remove UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
Removal:
Unlock connector (1) and pull off.
Release screw (2).
Release screw (3).
Carefully pull the vent hose (4) out of the air duct.
Only ECE models:
Release vent hose (1) on cylinder head cover.
Release screws (1) and lay auxiliary coolant pump (2) to side.
Release nut (1) and remove air duct (2) upwards.
Installation:
Install air duct (2) and tighten nut (1).
Tightening torque 13 71 3AZ .
Tighten screws (1) for auxiliary coolant pump (2).
Tightening torque 17 10 8AZ .
Connect and lock the connector (1).
Connector (1) must engage audibly.
Tighten screw (2).
Tightening torque 13 71 2AZ .
Carefully insert the vent hose (4) into the air duct.
Tighten screw (3).
Tightening torque 13 71 8AZ .
Only ECE models:
Lock vent hose (1) on cylinder head cover.
Vent hose (1) must audibly engage.
Required follow-up work:
- Install top rear AIR DUCT .
- Install right INTAKE FILTER HOUSING .
- Install IGNITION COIL COVER .
- Install STIFFENING PLATE .
- Install UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
