Removing and installing/replacing transmission oil cooler for dual-clutch transmission (S55 engine)
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove front UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Remove STIFFENING PLATE .
Recycling
Transmission oil emerges when engine oil lines are detached from transmission oil cooler.
Catch and dispose of escaping transmission oil in a suitable container.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Removal:
Release screws (1) from engine oil cooler (2).
Secure engine oil cooler (2) against falling out.
Release screws (1).
Remove cover (2) from module carrier.
Unlock transmission oil lines (1) and detach.
Remove transmission oil cooler downwards.
Installation:
Install transmission oil cooler from below.
Connect and lock transmission oil lines (1).
Transmission oil lines (1) must audibly engage.
Install cover (2) on module carrier.
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 17 10 11AZ .
Tighten screws (1) of engine oil cooler (2).
Tightening torque 17 22 3AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Install STIFFENING PLATE .
- Install FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Check OIL LEVEL in dual-clutch transmission.
Top up transmission oil if necessary.
