41 62 014 Adjusting Tailgate (X6 2015-2019)
Minor corrections (realignment work) are permitted if the existing adjustment options are not sufficient.

The tailgate must be provided with all attachment parts for correct adjustment.
Equipment specification with automatic tailgate operation:
Immobilize automatic tailgate operation:
Disconnect plug connection at CONTROL UNIT for automatic tailgate operation.
Remove spindle drive. Refer to 51 24 350 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT SPINDLE DRIVE (AUTOMATIC LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID ACTUATION) REP-REP-RAF1651-5124350 - V.4 (X6 2015-2019) if necessary.
The following consumables are required for setting: YELLOW PLASTIC ADHESIVE TAPE .
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove water channel trim.
- Remove TRIM PANEL FOR REAR WINDOW FRAME .
- Remove GAS-FILLED SHOCK ABSORBER .
- Remove STRIKER for tailgate catch.
Operation described here for the left side, work is identical for the right side.
Adjusting tailgate laterally and in longitudinal direction:
Open tailgate and secure it against falling shut with the aid of two persons.
Slacken screws (1) on rear lid hinge to rear lid until such stage that rear lid can still be moved.
Adjust tailgate.
Tightening torque 41 62 1AZ .
Height adjustment of tailgate relative to roof outer skin and to side panel:
Check tailgate wedge (1) on left and right for damage; renew if necessary.
Check rear lid limit position (1) on body on left and right for damage, replace if necessary.
Height adjustment relative to roof outer skin:
Open tailgate and secure it against falling shut with the aid of two persons.
Slacken screws (2) until such stage that the tailgate can still be moved.
Adjust height of tailgate relative to roof outer skin.
Tightening torque 41 62 2AZ .
Height adjustment relative to side panel:
Remove sealing cap (not visible). Slacken screw underneath (2) until it is still possible to move wedge (1). Tightening torque 41 62 6AZ .
Remove FLAP IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM PANEL and slacken lock nut (1).
Pre-adjustment: Adjust the stop pad (2) by turning so that the tailgate has a recess of 0.5 - 1.0 mm relative to the side panel.
Tighten the lock nut (1) until finger-tight.
Install STRIKER .
Checking of pre-adjustment: Fold the yellow plastic adhesive tape (1) 1x and place on the stop pad. Close tailgate.
The stop pad is correctly pre-adjusted when the plastic adhesive tape can be pulled out with slight resistance.
Final setting: Open the tailgate and unscrew the stop pad by 3/4 to 1 turn. The stop pad is unscrewed depending on the height recess and protrusion relative to the side panel and depending on the closing noise of the tailgate.
Tighten lock nut of stop pad. Tightening torque 41 62 6AZ .
Adjust wedge (1) by moving in direction of arrow. Tighten screw (2). Tightening torque 41 62 6AZ .
Checking of setting: Place plastic adhesive tape (1) on wedge and close tailgate.
The wedge is adjusted correctly when the plastic adhesive tape can be pulled out with slight resistance.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Tighten all screws and nuts to specified torque.
- Install water channel cover.
- Install TRIM PANEL FOR REAR WINDOW FRAME .
- Install GAS-FILLED SHOCK ABSORBER .
- Equipment specification with automatic tailgate operation:
Install spindle drive. Refer to 51 24 350 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT SPINDLE DRIVE (AUTOMATIC LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID ACTUATION) REP-REP-RAF1651-5124350 - V.4 (X6 2015-2019) if necessary.
Put tailgate lift into operation: Connect plug connection at CONTROL UNIT for automatic tailgate operation.
- If reversing camera optional equipment installed:
Calibrate REVERSING CAMERA .
- Touch up unpainted surfaces in the appropriate colour.
