52 15 530 Removing and installing/replacing backrest frame for left or right front seat
IMPORTANT:
The side airbag is integrated in the front seat.
Improper handling may trigger the side airbag and as a result cause injuries.

Use of the universal seat mount is recommended for carrying out expert repairs.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove backrest cover with upholstery. Refer to 52 15 407 REPLACING BACKREST COVER FOR DRIVER'S SEAT or 52 15 408 REPLACING BACKREST COVER FOR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT .
Unclip connector (1) from backrest frame.
Undo wiring harness from backrest frame at clips (1).
Carefully feed wiring harness out of backrest frame.
Release screws (1) on left and right.
Tightening torque: 52 10 2AZ .
Remove backrest frame (2) upwards from the seat mechanism (3).
Replacement:
- Remount BOTH SEAT CUSHIONS FOR BACKREST WIDTH ADJUSTMENT .
- Remount lumbar support. Refer to 52 14 110 REPLACING LEFT LUMBAR SUPPORT or 52 14 112 REPLACING LUMBAR SUPPORT, RIGHT .
- Remount lumbar support pump. Refer to 52 15 115 REPLACING LUMBAR SUPPORT PUMP (WITH VALVE BLOCK) ON LEFT or 52 15 117 REPLACING RIGHT LUMBAR SUPPORT PUMP (WITH VALVE BLOCK) .
