52 15 408 Replacing backrest cover for front passenger seat
Special tools required:
- 52 0 050
Improper handling may trigger the side airbag and as a result cause injuries.
Observe safety information for HANDLING COMPONENTS OF AIRBAG SYSTEM .
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove REAR PANEL on front seat backrest
Use of the universal seat mount is recommended for carrying out professional repairs.
Guide all cables carefully through seat and backrest mechanism.
Make sure cable is routed without kinks and tension.
Make sure plug connections are correctly locked.
Make sure connectors are correctly seated in latch mechanisms.
Release cable strap (1).
Unlock and disconnect connector (2).
Carefully feed out cable (3) for M-trim lighting.
Lever out welt (1) of backrest frame.
Detach bracing cloth at bottom from the metal tabs in the marked area (2).
Carefully slide bracing cloth through backrest gap and seat structure.
Installation note:
Ensure correct installation of the bracing cloth.
Version with seat heating only:
Unclip cable (1) for seat heating from clip (2).
Detach cable (1) for the seat heating from the seat mechanism in the marked area.
Version with seat heating only:
Detach cable (1) for the seat heating from the seat mechanism in the marked area.
Unlock and disconnect connector (2).
Version with seat heating only:
Unclip cable (1) for seat heating from clip (2).
Unclip holder (3).
Remove seat cover with support.
Detach all clamps in the marked area.
Detach all clamps in the marked area.
Partially remove seat cover from upholstery.
Unlock M-trim (1) on both sides with pliers.
Feed out M-trim (1) with cable from upholstery and seat cover.
Remove seat cover from upholstery.
Installation note:
Bend new clamp (2) with special tool 52 0 050.
Replacement only:
Pull trim wires out of backrest cover.
Cut new backrest cover to size and insert trim wires.
