Replacing radial shaft seal for input flange of rear axle differential (AWD) (X2 xDrive 28i 2018-2023, X2 M35i 2019-2022)

WARNING: DANGER OF POISONING if oil is ingested/absorbed through the skin!
RISK OF INJURY if oil comes into contact with eyes and skin!

CAUTION: Risk of damage!
Failure to observe the oil specifications may lead to serious damage to the hang-on clutch .

Use only the APPROVED OIL (see applicable BMW parts catalogue) for the hang-on clutch.
The oil to be filled must be at least at the room temperature (greater than 18°)
Maintain the exact OIL CAPACITY .

CAUTION: Risk of damage!
Failure to observe the oil filling/oil draining may lead to serious damage to the hang-on clutch .

In order to ensure correct oil filling of the hang-on clutch, the oil reservoir of the hang-on clutch must be completely drained before filling (remove the hang-on clutch and swivel the differential downwards).
In order to ensure correct oil filling of the hang-on clutch, the differential must always be swivelled down, even when oil filling is in progress.
The oil filler plug on the reservoir cap is not an oil level indicator.

Necessary preliminary work:

Refer to REMOVING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM .
Refer to REMOVING THE LEFT-HAND TORSION STRUT .
Remove heat shields. Refer to REMOVING FRONT HEAT SHIELD , and REMOVING HEAT SHIELD AT REAR , and REMOVING HEAT SHIELD AT UPPER EXHAUST TURBOCHARGER .
Refer to REMOVING AND TYING BACK PROPELLER SHAFT ON REAR AXLE FINAL DRIVE .

Removal:

Counter support the three-hole flange (1) with the special tool 23 0 020 .

Release the nut with a special tool 11 8 720.

Remove the three-bolt flange (1).

Pull out the radial shaft seal (1) with special tool 00 5 010.

Installation:

Replace radial shaft seal at front.

Parts: Radial seal

Lightly oil housing flange and sealing lips of the new radial shaft seal.

Drive in the radial shaft seal with special tools 2 408 149 and 2 413 037 .

Replace the three-bolt flange (1).

Parts: Three-hole flange

Position the three-bolt flange (1).

Replace nut.

Parts: Nut

Counter support the three-hole flange (1) with the special tool 23 0 020 .

Tighten the nut with special tool 11 8 720.

Tightening torque 33 10 4AZ .

Required follow-up work:

Refer to REMOVING THE HANG-ON CLUTCH, DRAINING IT COMPLETELY, INSTALLING IT AND REFILLING IT WITH OIL .
Refer to INSTALLING PROPELLER SHAFT ON THE REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL .
Install heat shields. Refer to INSTALLING FRONT HEAT SHIELD , and INSTALLING THE REAR HEAT SHIELD , and INSTALLING THE HEAT SHIELD ON THE EXHAUST TURBOCHARGER, TOP .
Refer to COMPLETELY INSTALLING THE EXHAUST SYSTEM .
Carry out the hang-on clutch oil bleeding routine.

Service function -> Drivetrain -> Longitudinal torque distribution -> Bleeding
