41 11 155 Replacing Cover For Left Or Right Side Member (Partial Replacement, Door Pillar)

Spot-weld bonding is used on this vehicle. Observe specific procedure See 4100... SPOT-WELD BONDING STEEL PARTS or 4100... OPENING ADHESIVE BONDS .

Place vehicle on straightening bench.

Necessary preliminary tasks

Remove FRONT SIDE PANEL
Remove rear side panel See 4135111 REPLACING REAR RIGHT SIDE PANEL or 4135101 REPLACING REAR LEFT SIDE PANEL
REMOVE DOOR

(1) Entrance, outer
(2) Carrier support, wheel arch
(3) A-pillar, outer
(4) B-pillar, outer

Open weld joints and spot-welded adhesive joints in areas (1).

Mark severance cuts (2) and (3) and cut.

IMPORTANT: Cut only outer plates.

Installation:

No reinforcing panel is welded in at severance cut (2).

Execute severance cut (2) so that there is an overlap to new entrance part.

Open weld joints in areas (1).

Mark severance cut (1) and cut.

Open weld joints and spot-welded adhesive joints in area (2).

Open weld joints and spot-welded adhesive joints in area (1).

Installation:

Slide outer entrance underneath remaining A-pillar.

Adhere to specific procedure with regard to spot-welded adhesive joints.

When welding the new part, make sure that the adhesive joints of adjoining components are not damaged by the application of heat.
