12 51 210 Replacing the wiring harness section for the injectors and ignition coils (B46, B48)
Attention!
Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION) !
Necessary preliminary work:
- Disconnect NEGATIVE BATTERY LEAD
- Remove ACOUSTIC COVER
- Remove COVER OF BULKHEAD ON TOP
- Remove STRUT BRACE
Removal:
Loosen screw (1).
Release expanding rivet (2).
Remove cover (3).
Loosen screw (1).
Lay the cover (2) of the positive battery connection point to one side.
Unlock connector (1) on control unit (2) and pull off.
Unlock holder (1) and release.
Unlock holder (1) and release.
Remove sound insulation from high pressure pump.

| Unlock and disconnect connector from DME control unit | |
| Release connector from ignition coils and unplug | |
| Release and pull off connector from injectors |
Release wiring harness from clips and retainers.
Feed out wiring harness and remove.
Installation:
Route and install wiring harness.
All connectors must audibly engage.
Connect connector (1) to control unit and lock.
Connect holder (1) and lock.
Holder (1) must engage audibly.
Connect holder (1) and lock.
Holder (1) must engage audibly.
Install sound insulation for high pressure pump.
Install the cover (2) of the positive battery connection point.
Tighten screw (1).
Tightening torque 17 10 10AZ
Install cover (3).
Release expanding rivet (2).
Tighten screw (1).
Tightening torque 17 10 10AZ
Required follow-up work:
- Connect NEGATIVE BATTERY LEAD
- Install ACOUSTIC COVER
- Install COVER OF BULKHEAD ON TOP
- Install the STRUT BRACE
