51 11 157 Replace bumper panel, front

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove FRONT BUMPER TRIM .
Remove LICENSE PLATE BASEPLATE .
Remove BOTTOM MIDDLE GRILLE .
Remove SIDE GRILLE .
Remove TOP GRILLE .
Modify FOG LIGHT , see FOG LIGHT and adjust after installation.
Remove WIRING HARNESS .
Remove ultrasonic sensors. See FRONT LEFT SENSOR , FRONT RIGHT SENSOR , and FRONT SENSOR (CENTER) .
Remove protective caps for towing eyes

Install cover (2) for ornamental grille:

Fully remove bridges (1) from cover (2).

Mount cover (1) on bumper panel.

NOTE: Make sure component is correctly seated on latch mechanisms (2) and tabs (3).

Fasten cover (1) with clamps (2).

NOTE: Clamps (2) must press cover (1) against bumper panel completely.

Due to crash safety, latch mechanisms (1) must be secured with spacers (2).

Clean bonding surface of the insert (3) with cleaning agent R2 (BMW part number 83 19 0 417 324).

Position spacer (2) on latch mechanisms (1) and bond to insert (3).
