63 12 143 Removing and installing (replacing) right headlight with LED technology
Necessary preliminary tasks
- Remove FRONT RIGHT WHEEL ARCH COVER (FRONT SECTION) .
- Remove front bumper panel . See 51 11 156 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT BUMPER TRIM (UP TO 03/2010) or 51 11 156 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT BUMPER TRIM (FROM 03/2010) .
WARNING:
Follow notes on HANDLING LED LIGHTS (HIGH-PERFORMANCE LED) .

Risk of damage
Carry out the operations below with care so as to avoid damaging the side wall, headlight, wiring harness and washer fluid reservoir for window washer system.
Carry out the operations below with care so as to avoid damaging the side wall, headlight, wiring harness and washer fluid reservoir for window washer system.
Release nuts (2) from relay (1).
Release nuts (3) from relay (4).
Remove relay holder (4).
Installation note:
Position relay holder (4) with guide lug in associated bore hole in wheel arch.
Release screw (1) from front side panel.
Release screw (2) from headlight.
Tightening torque 63 12 2AZ .
Disconnect plug connection (3).
Unclip wiring harness (4).
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 63 12 1AZ .
Carefully pull headlight back slightly in direction of arrow.
IMPORTANT:
Risk of damage
Fully mask off front side panel in marked area (A) and headlight lens
Fully mask off front side panel in marked area (A) and headlight lens
NOTE:
An assistant is needed for this operation.
Release nuts (3) from diagonal strut (4).
Release screws (2) from front side panel.
Carefully lift side wall upward/outward with the help of an assistant and hold it there.
Carefully feed out headlight (1) in direction of arrow.
Installation note:
- The side wall must be fastened before adjusting the headlight.
- Adjust headlight in accordance with 41 00... BODY GAP DIMENSIONS by means of adjusting elements (1) to body.
- ADJUST HEADLIGHTS .
Replacement:
- Modify LED MAIN LIGHT MODULE .
- Modify CORNERING LIGHT LED MODULE .
