51 31 200 Removing and installing/replacing rear window

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove AERIAL AMPLIFIER

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Lever out clip (2).

Release nut (3) and remove holder for wiring harness.

Feed out wiring harness (4) from rear window.

IMPORTANT: Rear window hinge is under preload!
To release rear window lock nuts, open completely!

NOTE: Rear window shown closed here for purposes of clarity.

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque: 51 31 1 AZ .

Carefully remove rear window (2) with another person and place it on a soft surface.

Concluding tasks:

Check and, if necessary, correct REAR WINDOW SETTING .

Replacement:

Modify REAR-WINDOW BUTTON

IMPORTANT: If the rear window is broken:

Remove all glass splinters, also from underneath seats.
Check seat belts:
- Condition of seat belt strap
- Function of automatic reel
- Seat belt locking reel
- Check seat belt buckle
If the vehicle is equipped with a roller cover for luggage compartment, check the housing box for glass splinters and ensure that the automatic reel is functioning properly.
