11 13 010 Removing And Installing/Replacing Oil Sump Top Section (N73)

Necessary Preliminary Tasks: 

• Remove and install design cover.
• Remove and install fan clutch. Refer to 11 52 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING FAN CLUTCH (N73) .
• Remove and install alternator belt drive. Refer to 11 28 010 REPLACING ALTERNATOR DRIVE BELT (N73) .
• Remove and install A/C compressor belt drive. Refer to 11 28 050 REPLACING A/C COMPRESSOR DRIVE BELT (N73) .
• Lower front axle support.
• Secure power steering pump against falling down. Detach power steering pump from bracket.
• Remove lower oil sump section. Refer to 11 13 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING OIL SUMP BOTTOM SECTION (N73) .

Release screw, remove A/C compressor clamping device (1).

Unfasten screw connection (1).

Lay oil lines (2) to one side.

Release screws in area (1) and remove oil pan top section (2).

Tightening torque, refer to 11 13 2AZ in ENGINE - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Installation: 

Replace gaskets and sealing rings.

Clean sealing surfaces.

Apply a thin even coat of Drei Bond 1209 in area (1)

• At partition levels.
• At end cover to engine block.

Install oil sump with a new gasket.

Assemble engine.
