41 35... Removing And Installing Left Front Side Wall (Up To 03/2010)

Observe 41 00... BODY GAP DIMENSIONS

IMPORTANT: Do not damage adjoining body components.

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove FRONT BUMPER TRIM
Remove WHEEL ARCH COVER AT FRONT
Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ENTRANCE COVER
Remove COVER ON WHEEL ARCH
Remove gutter strip

Release screws.

NOTE: Side wall and headlight are removed together.

Tightening torque 41 35 6AZ .

Tightening torque 41 35 7AZ .

Tightening torque 41 35 8AZ .

Tightening torque 41 35 9AZ .

Installation note:

Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not be reused
Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes. (after which hardening begins)
Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened.
Thread of nut must be cleaned beforehand in event of repeated use.

Pull out clamp (1) in direction of arrow.

Detach connector (1) on headlight.

For vehicles with auxiliary oil cooler only:

Lever out retaining clip (1) at bottom and detach towards rear.

Remove oil cooler and tie back.

Detach connector (1) on fog light.

For vehicles with auxiliary oil cooler only:

Remove cable grommet in holding frame for oil cooler.

For vehicles with auxiliary oil cooler only:

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 17 22 5AZ.

Release screw (1).

For vehicles with auxiliary oil cooler only:

Release screws (2) and remove holding frame for oil cooler.

Tightening torque 17 22 5AZ.

Loosen bolt (1).

NOTE: Poor screw accessibility.

Close front door.

Pull side wall in area of A-pillar outwards (1) until bolting points are exposed.

Pull side wall upwards (2) until plastic guide (3) is exposed.

Slide side wall towards rear (4) and feed screw (5) out of module carrier.

Installation note:

Feed in washer of screw (5) with a small screwdriver.

Installation note:

Following parts must not be damaged or missing:

Spacer buffers (1)
