51 34 171 Replacing door window glass, rear left or right (Protection)

Remove window cavity trim from outside of rear door,

refer to 51 22 300 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING WINDOW CAVITY COVER STRIP ON REAR DOOR ON LEFT OR RIGHT .

Remove window cavity finisher strip from inside of rear door,

refer to 51 22 330 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING WINDOW CAVITY FINISHER STRIP ON INSIDE OF REAR DOOR (PROTECTION) .

Remove decorative strip from window frame of rear door (top),

refer to 51 34 380 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING DECORATIVE STRIP ON REAR DOOR (TOP), LEFT OR RIGHT .

Remove sound insulation,

refer to 51 48... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SOUND INSULATION IN FRONT DOOR, LEFT OR RIGHT 

Remove inside door handle on rear door,

refer to 51 22 225 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING INSIDE DOOR OPENER OF REAR LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR .

Release screws (1) and remove retaining bracket (2).

Remove trim (1) towards top.

Installation: 

1. Fit protective panel made from steel.

Release screws (1) in holders (2).

Installation: 

1. Slide door window glass at front and top into rubber window seal.

Remove rubber window seal (1) from door window glass at rear and top.

Installation: 

1. Coat rubber window seal with rubber protection coating agent (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service).

Slide door window glass (1) towards rear as far as possible and press front (B) outwards out of rubber seal (2).

Remove window glass by pulling upward at an angle.

Installation: 

1. Coat window edge with rubber protection coating agent (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service).

Installation: 

1. Check insulating material. If necessary, remove trim on window frame of rear door,
2. refer to 51 34 420 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM ON WINDOW FRAME OF REAR DOOR (FRONT), LEFT OR RIGHT (PROTECTION) .
