Front Suspension Overview: Notes

Do not attempt to weld or straighten the load-bearing or wheel-locating components of the front suspension.

- Installation position: ribbed side upward
- Coat with acid-free lubricant before installing
- Bolt

- Tighten to 110 Nm (81 ft lb) plus 1/4-turn (90°)
- Left transmission mount
- Bolt

- Bolt head points toward rear axle
- Subframe assembly
- Removing and installing SUBFRAME ASSEMBLY
- After removing and installing, front wheel alignment does not need to be checked unless the two rear bushings were removed or loosened
- Self-locking nut
- Always replace
- 65 Nm (48 ft lb)
- Rear subframe bushing
- Install flush in subframe assembly and/or control arm bushing
- Bolt to body

- Control arm bushing, inner

- Starting with VIN...NN 107 874 and/or...PN 000 433, a different bushing is installed in production; Only the modified bushing will be supplied as a replacement part
- When installing modified part, the aligning specification (Fig. 2 Aligning control arm bushing to control arm ) no longer applies
- Shims
- Self-locking nut
- Always replace
- Tighten to 120 Nm (89 ft lb) plus 1/4-turn (90°)CAUTION:
Do not tighten nut -13- unless the car is standing on its wheels-risk of accident!
- Control arm bushing, outer
- Replace if worn
- Control arm
- Different for left and right sides
- To remove and install, remove subframe SUBFRAME
- Stabilizer bushing
- Different versions according to stabilizer bar diameter
- Install with talcum
- Clamp
- Different versions according to stabilizer bar diameter
- Attach to subframe assembly
- Self-locking nut
- Always replace
- 105 Nm (77 ft lb)
- Stabilizer bar
- To remove and install, remove subframe SUBFRAME
- Note different diameters: 26 mm, 27 mm, 28 mm
- Washer
- Always replace
- Install with ribbed side up
- Bolt
- Always replace
- Tighten to 110 Nm (81 ft lb) plus 1/4-turn (90°)
