Tightening Specifications

Refer to HIGH PRESSURE PUMP OVERVIEW .

-- Modify the adapter from the old high pressure pump to the new one when replacing the high pressure pump.

-- Use Counter Holder Tool T40248 or Counter Holder Tool T40292 to loosen and tighten the nut -arrow- on the adapter.

NOTE:

Different adapters may be installed depending on the date of manufacture.

The high pressure lines also need to be replaced when replacing the high pressure pump.

-- Guide the high pressure pump into the chain sprocket.

The chain sprocket double splines -arrow A- need to align with the adapter groove -arrow B- on the high pressure pump shaft.

-- Remove the Crankshaft Holder 3242 and Locking Pin T40245.

-- Tighten the bolt for the Top Dead Center (TDC) marking in the oil pan upper section. Refer to OVERVIEW - OIL PAN/OIL PUMP, OIL PAN UPPER SECTION .

-- Install the high pressure lines. Refer to HIGH PRESSURE LINES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the coolant shut-off valve. Refer to COOLANT SHUT-OFF VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the engine oil cooler. Refer to OVERVIEW - ENGINE OIL COOLER .

-- Install the turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the rear noise insulation. Refer to REAR NOISE INSULATION .

CAUTION:

Letting the high pressure pump run dry will damage it.

The high pressure pump must be filled with fuel after installing, but before the engine is started for the first time. Refer to FUEL TANK, FILLING WITH FUEL AFTER INSTALLING HIGH PRESSURE PUMP .
