ATF Pipes And ATF Cooler, Cleaning

CAUTION:

This procedure contains mandatory replaceable parts. Refer to component overview prior to starting procedure.

Mandatory Replacement Parts

Before installing a replacement transmission, always clean out the ATF cooler and ATF pipes using compressed air (maximum 10 bar (145 psi)).

WARNING:

Wear protective eyewear.

-- Clean the following connections thoroughly: ATF pipe/transmission, ATF pipe/thermostat and ATF pipe/ATF cooler.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and the ATF pipes from the thermostat -2-.

-- Remove the ATF pipes from/to ATF cooler on the thermostat -2-. Counter-hold at the thermostat.

-- Remove and drain the ATF cooler. Refer to OVERVIEW - RADIATOR AND RADIATOR FAN [CATA] /COOLANT, DRAINING [CATA] , COOLANT, DRAINING [CGRA] and COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING [CGFA] .

-- Remove the ATF lines from the transmission.

-- Attach a hose to one transmission/thermostat ATF pipe and secure it with a hose clamp. Hang the other end of the hose in a suitable container.

-- Clear the ATF pipe with compressed air.

-- Connect the hose to the other ATF pipe and repeat the procedure.

-- Coat the O-ring with ATF.

-- Install the ATF lines. Refer to ATF PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING 

-- Install the ATF cooler. Refer to RADIATOR, REMOVING, INSTALLING AND DISASSEMBLING [CATA] , RADIATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CGRA] and RADIATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CGFA] .
