Front Heating & A/C Unit

Refer to FRONT HVAC UNIT  for notes on disassembly.

Front A/C unit (without and with auxiliary heater heating element -Z35-)

NOTE:

Starting with MY 2009, certain vehicles with a 6 cylinder TDI engine without an auxiliary heater have an Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- installed depending on the emissions standard (running change depending on the engine). Refer to Audi Sales Program. Pay attention to the different components on versions with and without an auxiliary heater heating element, refer to AUXILIARY HEATER HEATING ELEMENT Z35 .

  1. Air Intake Housing
    • Do not disassemble further.
      NOTE:

      As of 11.2007, the Comfort A/C system as an updated Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126- (an updated Comfort Climatronic control module -J255- and an updated Fresh Air Blower -V2-). An updated air intake housing is also being used. Make sure to use the correct allocation for these parts with each other. Refer to FRESH AIR BLOWER CONTROL MODULE -J126- .

  3. Dust and Pollen Filter (With Activated Charcoal Filter Element)
    • Follow the replacement intervals, refer to Maintenance Intervals Rep. Gr. 03.
    • With an activated charcoal filter element.
    • Removing and installing, refer to DUST AND POLLEN FILTER .
      NOTE:

      An Air Quality Sensor -G238- is also installed on vehicles with a Comfort version Climatronic Control Module -J255-.

  4. Dust and Pollen Filter Shaft Cover
    • Located in vehicle behind footwell lining in front passenger's footwell (below on heating & A/C unit).
    • Removing and installing, refer to DUST AND POLLEN FILTER .
  5. Cover For Right Heater Core
  6. Cover For Heater Core At Bottom
  7. Retaining Pin For Cover For Heater Core At Bottom
  8. Cover For Left Heater Core
  9. Heater Core
  10. Retaining Clip For Coolant Pipes
  11. Coolant Pipe To Heater Core
  12. Coolant Pipe To Heater Core
  13. O-ring
  14. Base Plate With Foam Seal
  15. Grommet
    • Pass-through of coolant pipes from passenger compartment into engine compartment.
    • Check for correct installation position in plenum chamber front wall.
    • Removing and installing, refer to HEATER CORE, HEATING & A/C UNIT REMOVED .
  16. Evaporator Housing
    • Different versions on vehicles with and without the Auxiliary Air Heater Heating Element -Z35-.
    • Disassembling and assembling, refer to EVAPORATOR HOUSING .
      NOTE:

  17. Air Distribution Housing
  18. Threaded Plate
    • For mounting retaining plates with control motors to air distribution housing.
