Air Duct In Front Heating & A/C Unit

NOTE:

Starting with MY 2009, certain vehicles with a 6 cylinder TDI engine without an auxiliary heater, have an Auxiliary air heater heating element -Z35- installed depending on the emissions standard (running change depending on the engine). Refer to the Audi Sales Program.

Vehicles with a diesel engine have item 6  AIR DUCT IN FRONT HEATING & A/C UNIT an auxiliary heater heating element installed near the heater core. The air leaving the heater core is also heated by the auxiliary heater heating element.

Auxiliary heater heating element removing and installing refer to AUXILIARY HEATER HEATING ELEMENT Z35 , checking refer to AUXILIARY HEATER HEATING ELEMENT Z35, CHECKING .

  1. Air Recirculation/Fresh Air Door
  2. Fresh Air Blower -V2-
  3. Dust and Pollen Filter
  4. Evaporator
  5. Air Duct To Glove Compartment Cooling System
    • Not present on all vehicles, optional equipment.
  6. Heater Core
    NOTE:

    Vehicle with a diesel engine and without a fuel driven auxiliary heater have an Auxiliary heater heating element -Z35- installed near the heater core.

    Auxiliary heater heating element -Z35-) removing and installing refer to AUXILIARY HEATER HEATING ELEMENT Z35 , checking refer to AUXILIARY HEATER HEATING ELEMENT Z35, CHECKING .

  7. Door For Right Instrument Panel Vent
    • On Basic version A/C system, doors (items 7, 9, 12 and 13) are operated by a control motor via common shafts and lever.
    • On Comfort version A/C system, this door alone is operated by a control motor.
    • The door is shown in the approximately 50% open position.
  8. Door For Right Defroster Vent
    • The door is shown approximately 50% open in the cross-sectional diagram.
    • Doors for left and right defroster vents are moved via the shaft of a control motor.
  9. Door For Right Center Vent
    • On Basic version A/C system, doors (items 7, 9, 12 and 13) are operated by a control motor via common shafts and lever.
    • On Comfort version A/C system, this door alone is operated by a control motor.
    • The door is shown in the closed position.
    • Also for right-side indirect ventilation (via air ducts in instrument panel to front window) on vehicles with Comfort version A/C system.
    • Also for vents in right rear center console in vehicles without rear A/C system.
  10. Door For Right Footwell Vent
    • On Basic version A/C system, doors (items 10 and 14) are operated by a control motor via common shafts.
    • On Comfort version A/C system, this door alone is operated by a control motor.
    • Also for footwell vent under front passenger's seat in vehicles without rear A/C system.
    • The door is shown in the closed position.
  11. Door For Left Defroster Vent
    • This door is shown in the closed position.
    • Doors for left and right defroster vents are moved via the shaft of a control motor.
  12. Door For Left Instrument Panel Vent
    • On Basic version A/C system, doors (items 7, 9, 12 and 13) are operated by a control motor via common shafts and lever.
    • On Comfort version A/C system, this door alone is operated by a control motor.
    • The door is shown in the closed position.
  13. Door For Left Center Vent
    • On Basic version A/C system, doors (items 7, 9, 12 and 13) are operated by a control motor via common shafts and lever.
    • On Comfort version A/C system, this door alone is operated by a control motor.
    • The door is shown in the approximately 50% open position.
    • Also for left-side indirect ventilation (via air ducts in instrument panel to front window) on vehicles with Comfort version A/C system.
    • Also for vents in left rear center console in vehicles without rear A/C system.
    • Air flow to indirect ventilation is regulated via its own control motor on Comfort version A/C system.
  14. Door For Left Footwell Vent
    • On Basic version A/C system, doors (items 10 and 14) are operated by a control motor via common shafts.
    • On Comfort version A/C system, this door alone is operated by a control motor.
    • Also for footwell vent under driver's seat in vehicles without rear A/C system.
    • The door is shown in the closed position.
  15. Right Temperature Door
    • On Basic version A/C system, doors (items 15 and 16) are operated by a control motor via common shafts.
    • On Comfort version A/C system, this door alone is operated by a control motor.
    • The door is shown in the heat position.
  16. Left Temperature Door
    • On Basic version A/C system, doors (items 15 and 16) are operated by a control motor via common shafts.
    • On Comfort version A/C system, this door alone is operated by a control motor.
    • The door is shown in the cool position.
