Evaporator Housing
Refer to FRONT HVAC UNIT for notes on disassembly.
- Heating and A/C unit, removing and installing, refer to FRONT HVAC UNIT .
- Attachments, removing from heating & A/C unit and re-installing, refer to ATTACHMENTS .
- Heating and A/C unit, disassembling and assembling, refer to FRONT HEATING & A/C UNIT .
-- Remove air intake housing from heating & A/C unit, refer to FRONT HEATING & A/C UNIT .
-- Remove air distribution housing with wiring harness from evaporator housing, refer to FRONT HEATING & A/C UNIT .
Evaporator housing (without and with Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-)
Starting with MY 2009, certain vehicles with a 6 cylinder TDI engine without an auxiliary heater have an Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- installed depending on the emissions standard (running change depending on the engine). Refer to Audi Sales Program. Pay attention the different components on versions with and without an auxiliary heater heating element, refer to AUXILIARY HEATER HEATING ELEMENT Z35 .
- Foam Seal
- For seal at plenum chamber rear wall with heating & A/C unit installed.
- Screw
- Tightening specification 10 Nm
- Removing and installing, refer to FRONT EXPANSION VALVE .
- Expansion Valve
- There are different versions.
- Removing and installing, refer to FRONT EXPANSION VALVE .
- Checking function, refer to TEST REQUIREMENTS .
- O-ring Seal
- Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing, refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT O-RINGS .
- O-ring Seal
- Lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil before installing, refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT O-RINGS .
- Retaining Plate
- For expansion valve, refer to FRONT EXPANSION VALVE .
- Foam Seal
- For seal of evaporator refrigerant pipes on evaporator housing.
- Evaporator
- With foam seal, check before installing EVAPORATOR HOUSING .
- Insert evaporator into lower section of evaporator housing EVAPORATOR HOUSING .
- Seal
- For sealing connection between evaporator housing and air intake housing.

- Different versions on vehicles with and without the Auxiliary Air Heater Heating Element -Z35-. NOTE:

- Bonded Rubber Element
- Inserted and engaged in evaporator housing.
- Check for secure fit in heating & A/C unit, glue in loose bonded rubber element if necessary.
- Air Guide
- Upper Section Of Evaporator HousingNOTE:
As of 11.2007, the Comfort A/C system as an updated fresh air blower control module -J126- (an updated Comfort Climatronic control module -J255- and an updated fresh air blower -V2-). An updated evaporator housing upper section is also being used. Make sure to use the correct allocation for these parts with each other. Refer to FRESH AIR BLOWER CONTROL MODULE -J126- .

-- Check the applied foam seals -B- to -D- for damage and proper bonding before inserting evaporator.
-- Place seal -A- (for seal of both evaporator refrigerant lines on evaporator housing) on to evaporator pipes.

-- Insert evaporator -A- first into evaporator housing according to the illustration, pay attention to perimeter seal -arrows- while doing this.
