Oil Pan, Removing And Installing: Installation

Tightening specifications, refer to OIL PAN OVERVIEW and see Figure.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

NOTE:

Replace sealing rings.

-- Carefully remove sealant residue on cylinder block.

WARNING:

Danger of eye injury.

Wear protective eyewear.

-- Remove residual sealant on the oil pan e.g. with a rotating plastic brush.

-- Clean sealing surfaces, must be free of oil and grease.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: approximately 1.5 mm).

-- Apply sealant -arrow- to clean oil pan sealing surface as shown in illustration.

Sealant bead thickness: 2.0 mm

CAUTION:

Risk of plugging oil pump strainer with excess sealant.

Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.

NOTE:

Be especially careful when applying sealant bead in area of timing chain lower cover.

Oil pan must be installed within 5 minutes of applying sealant.

-- Place oil pan on subframe.

-- Install oil pump intake tubes.

-- Position oil pan -1- and tighten, refer to Figure.

-- Connect electrical connector -2- on Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install the subframe and engine carrier, refer to SUBFRAME, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the engine mount, refer to ENGINE MOUNT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the stabilizer bar, refer to STABILIZER BAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the universal joint on steering gear, refer to POWER STEERING GEAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles with 4-Zone Climate Control:

-- Install rear coolant pipes REAR COOLANT PIPES, 4-ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

All Vehicles:

-- Install ribbed belt tensioner, refer to RIBBED BELT TENSIONER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Fill engine oil and check the oil level, refer to OIL LEVEL, CHECKING .

-- On a vehicle with air suspension, deactivate vehicle lift mode, refer to VEHICLE LIFT MODE .
