Radiator, Removing And Installing

Removal

Proceed as follows:

NOTE:

The radiator and condenser may have small indentations on the fins even when installed correctly. It is not damage. Radiators or condensers should not be replaced because of slight impressions like these.

-- Empty the coolant circuit, refer to A/C System with Refrigerant R134a.

-- Drain the coolant, refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove fan shroud, refer to FAN SHROUD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove upper coolant hose -1- from radiator.

NOTE:

Ignore -Item 2-.

-- Remove upper coolant hose from front coolant pipe -arrow- and remove coolant pipe.

NOTE:

Ignore -Item 1- Hose Clamps - Up To 40mm3093.

-- Disconnect electrical connector -arrow- on Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on Radiator Outlet -G83-.

-- Remove lower coolant hose -1- from radiator.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging refrigerant lines and hoses.

Do not stretch, kink or bend refrigerant lines and hoses.

-- Remove refrigerant lines -1 and 2- from condenser.

-- Remove left and right radiator locking mechanism by pressing down against clamps -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolt -2- from the back of the radiator.

-- Disengage power steering cooler -1- on climate control system condenser.

Vehicles with automatic transmission:

-- Remove the bolt -1- from the back of the radiator.

-- Press of retaining clips -2 and 3-.

-- Remove ATF cooler -4- from radiator.

All Vehicles:

-- Remove the bolts -2- on the left and right sides of the lock carrier.

-- Tilt top of radiator back and remove it upward out of engine compartment.

NOTE:

Ignore -Item 1-.

-- Remove the bolt -3- on the back of the radiator.

-- Press of retaining clips -2 and 4-.

-- Remove climate control condenser -1- from radiator.

Installation

Tightening specifications, refer to RADIATOR OVERVIEW .

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install the refrigerant lines, refer to COMPRESSOR REFRIGERANT LINES, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Install fan shroud, refer to FAN SHROUD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install front coolant pipe, refer to FRONT COOLANT PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles with Automatic Transmission:

-- Tighten ATF lines.

All Vehicles:

-- Tighten the power steering hydraulic lines, refer to LINES AND HOSES OVERVIEW .

-- Fill the refrigerant circuit, refer to Refrigerant System - with Refrigerant R134a.

-- Fill the coolant, refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

NOTE:

If radiator was replaced, coolant must be changed.
