Selector lever cable, removing and installing

Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror 80-200

Removing

Remove selector lever handle → Selector lever handle, removing and installing .
Remove cover for shift mechanism → Selector mechanism cover, removing and installing .

Loosen selector lever cable locking bolt - 1 - with Torx 25 socket approx. 1 turn, do not remove completely.
Pry out securing clip - 2 - with a screwdriver.

Remove nuts - arrows - and slide shift mechanism heat shield back.

NOTE:

Remove bolt - 1 - , if present.
Pry out lock washers - 2 -.
Pull sound insulation down slightly.

Remove rubber cap - 2 - from shift mechanism.
Remove selector lever cable securing clip loosened from above.
Remove selector lever cable - 1 - downward out of shift unit.

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink selector lever cable.

Press ball socket - 1 - of the selector lever cable off from selector shaft lever using Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror 80-200.
Unclip securing plate - 2 - at selector lever cable mounting bracket.
If present, remove bolt - 3 - and remove selector lever cable.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
Lightly grease ball socket of selector lever cable with polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A2 before installing.

Adjust selector lever cable → Selector lever cable, checking and adjusting .
