Removing the Steering Gear Housing

Raise the front end of the car.
Remove the left front wheel (right-hand drive cars) or the right front wheel (left-hand drive cars).
Remove the ends of the ball joints for the tie rod from the wheel spindles. See Removing the Ball Joint For the Tie Rod .
Remove the mounting screws for the steering gear housing and the mounting brackets from the cross member.
Remove the steering gear housing from the mounting and the steering shaft.
Remove the steering gear housing:
- left-hand drive cars, first on the left, then on the right
- right-hand drive cars, first on the right, then on the left.
