Checking the status
- Start the engine.
Read off the camshaft shift angle and the camshaft shift angle, desired value.
At idle and at 4000 RPM, check that the camshaft's shift angle (desired value) corresponds with the camshaft's shift angle by an accuracy of 3 degrees. The difference between the values can be read off in the lower display.
Carry out the check at stable engine speed (RPM).
NOTE:Before the engine speed (RPM) stabilizes, the difference between the values can be greater than 3 degrees for approximately 1 second, this is normal.
If the values correspond by an accuracy of 3 degrees, this means that the fault is intermittent. If the values deviate more than 3 degrees, this means that the fault is permanent.
Do the values match?
- NO
Refer to Checking the components and wiring
- YES
