Replacing the right drive shaft pilot bearing: Disassembly

Secure the drive shaft. Remove the boot

Secure the drive shaft as close to the bearing as possible.

NOTE: Do not over tighten. The shaft is hollow.

Remove the clamps from the boot. Press the outer section of the shaft inwards forcefully. At the same time pull the boot off the joint.

NOTE: Take care that the shaft does not separate when the boot is removed from the constant velocity joint. The joint has no axial pinion.

Clean and mark up the constant velocity joint

Wipe off the grease from the joint.

Mark up the constant velocity joint, ball holder and shaft in relation to each other.

Use an electric scriber.

Separate the shaft and pull out the inner joint

Place the shaft on a workbench. Carefully separate the shaft by pulling out the inner joint from the constant velocity joint. At the same time, note the position of the balls in relation to the markings. See Clean and mark up the constant velocity joint .
