Remove the drive shaft from the gearbox

Remove:
- the splash guard under the engine. See Transmission oil/oil filter, replacing
- the cover for the drive shaft pilot bearing.
Pull the drive shaft straight out from the gearbox.
NOTE:
Do not damage the drive shaft when removing it from the transmission.
Install plug 9995730 in the gearbox. Alternately, install drift 9995771 if the car has a viscous coupling.
CAUTION:
Later models have a rubber seal on the constant velocity joint. Do not damage the seal. It will be needed for installation.
