Hydraulic System, Bleeding
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment: VAS6860
- Brake Bleeding Tool Set: VAS6564
Conditions
- For bleeding the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- a initial pressure of 2 bar (29.01 psi) is needed at the Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment: VAS6860 .
-- Connect the Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment: VAS6860 to the brake fluid reservoir.
-- Open the bleeder valves in the specified sequence and bleed the brake calipers and brake cylinders.
- Right Front Brake Caliper
- Left Front Brake Caliper
- Rear Left Brake Cylinder
- Rear Right Brake Cylinder
Conditions
- The bleeder hose must fit tightly on the bleeder valve so that no air can get into the brake system.
-- With the bleeder bottle bleeder hose attached, leave the brake caliper/brake cylinder bleeder valve open long enough so that the brake fluid flows out free of bubbles.
If the brake pedal travel is too long or a "soft brake pedal" is apparent, then perform the bleeding procedure 5 times at the same time note the following:
Conditions
- The help of a second technician is necessary for the following procedure.
-- Depress the brake pedal forcefully and hold.
A road test must be performed after bleeding. During this, at least one ABS control must be performed.
