Hydraulic System, Bleeding

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Conditions

-- Connect the Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment: VAS6860  to the brake fluid reservoir.

-- Open the bleeder valves in the specified sequence and bleed the brake calipers and brake cylinders.

  1. Right Front Brake Caliper
  2. Left Front Brake Caliper
  3. Rear Left Brake Cylinder
  4. Rear Right Brake Cylinder

Conditions

-- With the bleeder bottle bleeder hose attached, leave the brake caliper/brake cylinder bleeder valve open long enough so that the brake fluid flows out free of bubbles.

If the brake pedal travel is too long or a "soft brake pedal" is apparent, then perform the bleeding procedure 5 times at the same time note the following:

Conditions

-- Depress the brake pedal forcefully and hold.

A road test must be performed after bleeding. During this, at least one ABS control must be performed.
