Oil Pump, Removing And Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
Procedure:
-- Remove the transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING .
-- Remove the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the transmission side sealing flange. Refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TRANSMISSION SIDE .
-- Turn the engine on the vibration damper to the adjusting markings.
- The milled drive chain sprocket tooth -A- must align with the bearing joint.
- The marking on the chain sprocket -arrow- must align with the marking on the oil pump.
This position is only reached at every fourth turn.
-- Mark the position of the timing chain -A- to the oil pump chain sprocket -arrow- with a waterproof marker.
-- Remove the chain tensioner for the camshaft timing chain -arrow-.
-- Press the chain tensioner together and disconnect with a 3 mm hex socket wrench -A-.
-- Remove the tensioner for the oil pump drive chain -arrows-.
-- Position the Counterhold:T10587/1 -(A)- with :T10587/2 -(B)- as shown on the oil pump chain sprocket and on the cylinder block.
-- Loosen the chain sprocket bolt -arrow-.
-- Remove the Counterhold:T10587 .
-- Remove the bolt all the way and remove the chain sprocket from the oil pump.
-- Remove the chains from the chain sprocket.
-- Remove the bolts for the oil pump -1 to 6-.
-- Remove the oil pump evenly from the tabs -arrows-.
Installing:
-- Replace the O-ring for the oil pump.
-- Install the oil pump without tilting!
-- Use locking fluid when installing the oil pump bolts.
-- Tighten the bolts in the following sequence: -1 through 6-. Tightening specification. Refer to OVERVIEW - OIL PAN/OIL PUMP.
-- Check the crankshaft position.
- The milled drive chain sprocket tooth -A- must align with the bearing joint.
-- Turn the oil pump shaft -1- upward with the flat side -arrow- horizontal.
-- Insert the large chain sprocket -1- into the drive chain so that the marking -arrow- is aligned with the marking on the oil pump.
-- If the chain sprocket cannot be installed, rotate the oil pump shaft slightly.
-- Carefully remove the chain sprocket from the oil pump and tilt it slightly upward. Install the camshaft timing chain in this position. The markings made during removal must align.
-- Reinstall the chain sprocket on the oil pump shaft and tighten by hand.
-- Install the lower chain tensioner and tighten with 8 Nm -arrows-.
-- Remove the hex socket wrench -A-.
-- Install the chain tensioner for camshaft timing chain -arrow-.
-- Check the markings one more time.
- The milled drive chain sprocket tooth -A- must align with the bearing joint.
- The marked hole -arrow- must be aligned with the marking on the oil pump.
- The markings made during removal must align.
-- Position the Counterhold:T10587 on the chain sprocket as shown.
-- Tighten the chain sprocket bolt -arrow-. Tightening specification. Refer to OVERVIEW - OIL PAN/OIL PUMP.
-- Remove the Counterhold:T10587 .
-- Install the sealing flange on the transmission side. Refer to Installing: .
Further assembly is performed in reverse order.
