Valve Body, Removing And Installing: Installing
-- The wire routing must be closely followed so that the wires are not pinched when installing the valve body.
-- Route the wiring harness -5- in the specified indentation in the transmission according to the illustration.
The distance -a- must be maintained so that the wiring harness -5- does not touch the planetary gear and get damaged when the vehicle is being driven.
-- Place the wiring harnesses -1, 3, 4 and 5- over the edge of the transmission according to the illustration.
-- Secure the wiring harnesses to the transmission with adhesive tape.
-- Coat the damper piston -2- with ATF and then insert it with the spring into the transmission housing as shown.
-- Carefully mount the valve body and install the two bolts hand-tight.
- The wiring harnesses -1, 3, 4 and 5- must not get caught by the valve body.

-- Install the remaining bolts and brackets -1 and 2- and hand-tighten them.
If the wires are too short to be connected to the sensors or attached to the designated location on the valve body, then they were routed incorrectly or are pinched by the valve body. The valve body must be removed again and the wires properly routed.
All bolts for attaching the valve body must be replaced.
-- Tighten the valve body starting from the inside and working outward in a diagonal sequence. Refer to Tightening Specifications .
-- Install and tighten the Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor -G93-. Refer to Tightening Specifications .
-- Connect the connectors (quantity: 8) to the solenoid valves according to the markings made earlier. Refer to WIRE ROUTING, CONNECTORS AND BRACKET ON VALVE BODY .
In some circumstances, confusing the connectors could cause damage to the transmission.
The wiring harness or the valve body with the solenoid valves must be replaced if the one of the connectors gets damaged.
-- Tighten the brackets for the connectors. Refer to WIRE ROUTING, CONNECTORS AND BRACKET ON VALVE BODY .
-- Connect the connectors. Refer to -Item - ) WIRE ROUTING, CONNECTORS AND BRACKET ON VALVE BODY - A - and -Item - ) WIRE ROUTING, CONNECTORS AND BRACKET ON VALVE BODY - B -.
-- Engage the wiring harness -3- in the bracket -7- -arrow B-.
-- Attach the selector lever -2- to the selector shaft -6-.
Make sure the lever pin -2- engages into the valve -1- -arrow A-. If necessary, position the valve accordingly.
-- Install the washer -5- and nut -4- on the selector shaft -6-.
The centering collar on the nut must face the washer and fit into the washer when the nut is tightened.
The wiring harness -3- must be routed underneath the selector lever.
-- Tighten the nut for the lever -1-. Refer to Tightening Specifications .
-- While doing so, carefully hold the selector lever -1- firmly with pliers -2- so that the torque is not transferred onto the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-.
-- Make sure the valve -3- on the valve body, into which the lever engages, is not damaged.
-- If equipped, bend up the locking plate at the nut -arrows-.
-- Install the transmission fluid screen. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID SCREEN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the transmission fluid pan. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID PAN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Fill the ATF, and check the ATF level and add ATF if necessary. Refer to ATF .
-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester and perform the "basic setting".
