Cylinder Block Assembly Overview

NOTE:

If large quantities of metal particles or other deposits (caused, for example, by partial seizure of the crankshaft or connecting rod damage) are found in the engine oil, the oil passages must be cleaned thoroughly and the oil cooler, oil spray nozzles and the oil filter replaced in order to prevent further damage from reoccurring.

  1. Cylinder block
  2. Bracket
    • For wiring harness and charge air pipe
  3. 15 Nm
  4. Gasket
    • Replace
  5. Oil filter bracket
  6. 15 Nm + 90° (1 /4 turn) additional turn
    • Replace
    • First, fasten upper left and lower right bolts, and then tighten all four bolts in a diagonal sequence
  7. Bracket
  8. 20 Nm
  9. Connecting piece
    • For thermostat
  10. 15 Nm
  11. O-ring
    • Replace
  12. Coolant thermostat
    • Removing and installing THERMOSTAT .
    • Note installation position THERMOSTAT .
    • Checking: Heat up thermostat in water
    • Opening begins approximately 85° C
    • Ends approximately 105° C
    • Opening lift min. 7 mm
  13. Hex bolt
  14. Bracket
    • For generator and A/C compressor, if equipped
  15. Tensioner
  16. 25 Nm
  17. Oil pan
    • Clean sealing surface before installing
    • Install with silicone sealantD 176 404 A2
  18. 15 Nm
