Sealing Flange And Dual Mass Flywheel Overview

- Cylinder Block
- Crankshaft overview. Refer to CRANKSHAFT OVERVIEW .
- Piston and connecting rod overview. Refer to PISTON AND CONNECTING ROD OVERVIEW .
- Alignment Pin
- Not installed.
- Sealing Flange, Transmission Side
- With the seal.
- Always replace as a complete unit.
- Before installing, remove any remaining oil from the crankshaft journal with a clean cloth.
- Do not oil or grease the sealing lip of the seal.
- To install, use the provided guide sleeve.
- The guide sleeve may only be removed after the sealing flange has been slid onto the crankshaft.
- Removing and installing, refer to SEALING FLANGE, TRANSMISSION SIDE .
- Bolt
- For the tightening sequence and tightening specification, refer to Fig 2.
- Intermediate Plate
- Must be located on the alignment sleeves.
- Be careful not to damage or bend when installing.
- Is hooked in at the sealing flange, refer to Fig 3.
- Bolt
- 60 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn.
- Always replace.
- For the dual mass flywheel.
- Dual Mass Flywheel
- Removing and installing, refer to DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL .
- Only possible to install in one position, the bores are offset
- Alignment Pin
- Not installed.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) V.A.G 1331
-- Tighten the bolts in 2 passes in sequence -1 through 8- as follows:
-- Tighten the bolts by hand.
-- Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm.
-- Hook the intermediate plate in at the sealing flange and push it onto the alignment sleeves -arrows-.
