Work sequence

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio, and 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

NOTE: All functions which could previously be performed with VAG 1551/1552 can also be performed with the new tester VAS 5051.

Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool (VAG 1552). Start engine and select "Address word" 01 of engine control module. When doing this the engine must be running at idling speed.

NOTE: Only when engine does not start:

Operate starter for approx. 6 seconds and then do not switch off the ignition.
Switch on scan tool printer with PRINT key. Warning lamp in key must light up.

Operate scan tool taking into account information on display.
Press keys 0 and 2 for function "Check DTC Memory" and confirm entry with Q key."
The number of DTCs stored or "No DTC recognized!" will be shown on the display.

NOTE:
If no DTC is stored:
- Press --> key.
If one or more DTCs are stored:

The stored DTCs will be displayed and printed out one after the other.
After the stored DTCs have been printed out, the display will show as in Fig 3.

Press keys 0 and 5 for the function "Erase DTC Memory" and confirm entry with Q key.

NOTE: If the ignition is switched off between "Check DTC Memory" and "Erase DTC Memory" the DTC memory will not be erased.
If the DTC memory was erased the readiness code must be generated again READINESS CODE, GENERATING .
Press --> key.
Indicated on display:
