Radio system overview: Notes

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 27 other vehicles, including the 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio, 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, and 1999 Volkswagen Golf. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Before working on the electrical system:
  • Obtain radio anti -theft code.
  • Ignition OFF !
  • Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
NOTE: After reconnecting battery:
  • Activate vehicle equipment such as radio, clock and power windows as per Repair Manual and/or Owner's Manual.
  • On vehicles equipped with OBD II, activate readiness code. Refer to READ MEASURING VALUE BLOCK (FUNCTION 08) .
NOTE: The following list refers to items in Fig 1 .
  1. Right front tweeter -R22- 
  2. Stereo radio 
  3. Cassette storage (where applicable) 
  4. Roof-mounted antenna, amplified 
  5. Left rear woofer -R15- 
  6. Left rear tweeter -R14- 
  7. Left front woofer -R21- 
  8. Telescoping antenna -R11- 
    • Installed on certain models only, where roof -mounted antenna -4- is not used
    • Removing/installing, refer to REMOVING 
  9. Left front tweeter -R20-
