Clutch cable not tensioned

Mount retaining strap -A- above dust boot.
Connect clutch cable to clutch pedal, see INSTALLING .
Pull cable end piece in direction of arrow -1-, hold in place, and move adjusting mechanism -B- back and forth several times until it can be pressed together in direction of bulkhead (arrow -2-).

Hold adjusting mechanism in compressed state and hook retaining strap tabs onto pins -C- on adjusting mechanism (second technician required).
Connect clutch cable at transmission, see INSTALLING .
Install over-center spring, see INSTALLING .
Remove retaining strap.
Check operation of adjusting mechanism, see CLUTCH CABLE ADJUSTING MECHANISM, CHECKING FUNCTION AND REPAIRING .

NOTE: No other cable (for example: accelerator pedal cable, etc.) is to be attached to the clutch cable. The clutch cable adjusting mechanism may stop functioning.
