Rear Upper Wishbone Link Removal And Installation/Replacement

Special Tools Required:
Ball Joint Release Tool - no part number
Transmission Jack/Lifter - no part number
Removal Procedure:
The procedure for the left-hand component is identical to that for the right-hand side.
- Remove rear wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Loosen rear brake caliper and hang to the side. Refer to REAR BRAKE CALIPER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
Removal note: For better illustration the shock absorber is not shown.
- Unclip cable guide (1) at markings (2) and hang to the side.
- Secure the rear control arm (1) with a gear jack to prevent it from moving down.
- Remove bolt (2).
Torque: 110 Nm
- Remove and discard the torque prevailing nut (1).
Replace with new only
Torque - First Pass: 100 Nm
Torque - Final Pass: 90° Rotation Angle
Installation note: Tighten nuts/bolts in normal position!
- Remove and discard the torque prevailing nut (1).
Replace with new only
Torque: 125 Nm
- Push the shock absorber (2) slightly to the side.
- Remove the rear upper link (3) from the wheel knuckle (4) with a ball joint release tool.
Removal note: For better illustration the shock absorber is not shown.
- Remove and discard the torque prevailing bolt (1).
Replace with new only
- Remove rear upper link (2).NOTE: Damage
Risk of damage to chassis components if appropriate precautions are not observed.- Never park the vehicle on its wheels when chassis components are loose.
- Never support the vehicle on the unit carrier or strut cross when chassis components are loose.
Installation Procedure:

- Fasteners highlighted as torque prevailing must be discarded and not re-used.
- Replace with new nuts and bolts only.
- Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.
All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification!
- Install rear brake caliper. Refer to REAR BRAKE CALIPER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Install rear wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Do a vehicle measurement. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND STEERING WHEEL ANGLE ADJUSTMENT AND SPECIFICATIONS
