Removal [09/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [09/2022 - 11/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [11/2022 - 09/2024] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 25 [09/2024 - ]

  2. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the No. 2 timing chain cover assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  3. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the No. 2 timing chain cover assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  4. REMOVE O-RING 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the O-ring is necessary.

    1. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.
      NOTE:
      • When removing the O-ring, be careful not to damage the O-ring groove of the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.
      • If the O-ring groove of the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly is damaged, replace the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly with a new one.
