Removal [06/2017 - 09/2019]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    Make sure to select face mode before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 

    For HFC-134a (R134a):

    See step  1

    For HFO-1234yf (R1234yf):

    See step  1

  3. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - ]

  4. REMOVE FRONT CENTER UPPER SUSPENSION BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  5. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE (for A25A-FKS) 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the outlet heater water hose.

      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the outlet heater water hose.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
  6. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE A (for 2GR-FKS) 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the outlet heater water hose A.

      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the outlet heater water hose A.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
  7. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE (for A25A-FKS) 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the inlet heater water hose.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the inlet heater water hose.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  8. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE (for 2GR-FKS) 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the inlet heater water hose.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the inlet heater water hose.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  9. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Sub-cool Accelerator) 
    1. Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  10. DISCONNECT NO. 2 AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY (w/ Sub-cool Accelerator) 
    1. Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the No. 2 air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.

    3. Remove the 2 O-rings from the No. 2 air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  11. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY (w/o Sub-cool Accelerator) 
    1. Disconnect the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  12. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Manual Seat) 

    For TMMK Made:

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020]

  13. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH (for Manual Seat) 

    For TMC Made:

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - 09/2019]

    For TMMK Made:

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  14. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Power Seat) 

    For TMC Made:

  15. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH (for Power Seat) 

    For TMMK Made:

  16. REMOVE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY 

    For UB80E Automatic Transmission / Transaxle:

  17. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020]

  18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2017 - 10/2020]

  19. REMOVE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU) (w/o Smart Key System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  20. REMOVE ECU INTEGRATION BOX RH (w/ Smart Key System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  21. REMOVE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  22. REMOVE NO. 1 CLEARANCE WARNING BUZZER (w/ Intuitive Parking Assist System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  23. REMOVE COOLER (ROOM TEMP. SENSOR) THERMISTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connector and aspirator to remove the cooler (room temp. sensor) thermistor.

  24. REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL PAD

  26. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CAUTION PLATE COVER (for TMC Made) 
    1. Disengage the claw as shown by the arrow (1), and then pull the front floor caution plate cover as shown by the arrow (2) in the illustration to disengage the guide and remove it.

  34. REMOVE NO. 3 DASH PANEL INSULATOR PAD 
    1. Cut each claw of the 2 clips and remove the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad.

      NOTE:

      If the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad is damaged, replace it with a new one.

    2. Remove the 2 clips.
  35. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the bolt (A) and disconnect the earth wire.

  40. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO PEDAL BRACKET (for Pedal Type Parking Brake) 
    1. Remove the bolt and nut.

    2. Disengage the guide to remove the instrument panel to pedal bracket.
  41. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CONDITIONER UNIT ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Be sure to support the air conditioner unit assembly when removing it. Failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioner unit assembly to break.
    • When disassembling the air conditioner unit assembly, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.
    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the 3 earth wires.
    3. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the connector holder.
    4. Disengage each clamp.
    5. Push down the part (A) in the direction indicated by the arrow (1), to release the lock, and then move the lock lever in the direction indicated by the arrow (2) shown in the illustration to disconnect the connector.

      *A w/ Smart Key System
      Release the lock (1)
      Disconnect the connector (2)
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    6. w/ Smart Key System:
      1. Disconnect the connector.
    7. Disengage each clamp to separate the instrument panel wire.
    8. Turn back the front floor mat as shown in the illustration.

    9. Disconnect the drain cooler hose.

      *1 Cooler Unit Drain Hose Grommet
      NOTE:

      If the drain cooler hose is disconnected from the cooler unit drain hose grommet, make sure to replace the cooler unit drain hose grommet with a new one. Failure to do so may lead to water ingress.

    10. Remove the cooler unit drain hose grommet.

    17. Disconnect each connector.
    18. Remove the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with air conditioner unit assembly as shown in the illustration.
    19. Disengage the claw and 2 guides to disconnect the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) as shown in the illustration.
