On-Vehicle Inspection [12/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Perform the following inspection procedure when using the Techstream:
      1. Stop the engine.
      2. Remove the V-bank cover sub-assembly (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24 ).
      3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      4. Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
      5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Active the VSV for Intake Control.
      6. Make sure that a clicking sound is heard from the intake air control valve when current flows.

        If the intake air control valve does not operate, check the ACIS control circuit (Refer to ACIS Control Circuit [12/2015 - 08/2016] ).

      7. Install the V-bank cover sub-assembly (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 95 ).
    2. Perform the following inspection procedure when applying voltage between the terminals:
      1. Remove the V-bank cover sub-assembly (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24 ).
      2. Disconnect the intake air control valve connector.

      3. Apply battery voltage between terminals 2 (+) and 1 (-) of the intake air control valve. Check that a clicking sound is heard from the intake air control valve.

        If the operation is not as specified, replace the intake air surge tank assembly.

      4. Install the V-bank cover sub-assembly (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 95 ).
  2. INSPECT AIR CLEANER AND HOSE 
    1. Inspect actuator operation.
      1. Remove the air cleaner inlet cover assembly seal (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 ).
      2. With 27 kPa (203 mmHg, 7.97 in. Hg) of vacuum applied to the actuator, check that the actuator rod moves.

      3. One minute after applying the vacuum, check that the actuator rod does not return.

        If the operation is not as specified, replace the air cleaner assembly.

      4. Install the air cleaner inlet cover assembly seal (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 ).
