Removal [06/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. SECURE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Secure the steering wheel assembly with the seat belt in order to prevent rotation.

      HINT: 

      This operation is useful to prevent damage to the spiral cable.

  3. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET 
    1. Turn back the floor carpet.
    2. Remove the 2 clips and column hole cover silencer sheet.

  4. SEPARATE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Place matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

    2. Remove the bolt.
    3. Separate the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering intermediate shaft.
  5. SEPARATE NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the clip (B), separate the clip (A) from the vehicle body and separate the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the clips (A) and (B).

  6. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  7. REMOVE FRONT LOWER BUMPER ABSORBER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [11/2018 - ]

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 MOTOR UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [11/2018 - ]

  9. REMOVE NO. 2 MOTOR UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [11/2018 - ]

  10. REMOVE REAR MOTOR UNDER COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [11/2018 - ]

  11. REMOVE REAR MOTOR UNDER COVER RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [11/2018 - ]

  12. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [11/2018 - ]

  13. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [11/2018 - ]

  14. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [11/2018 - ]

  15. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  16. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the cotter pin and nut.
    2. Install SST to the tie rod end sub-assembly LH.
      • SST: 09960-20010 
        1. 09961-02060
      NOTE:

      Make sure that the upper ends of the tie rod end sub-assembly LH and SST are aligned.

    3. Secure SST using a string.
      NOTE:

      Be sure to tighten the string firmly to secure SST to the steering knuckle LH to prevent SST from falling off.

    4. Using SST, separate the tie rod end sub-assembly LH from the steering knuckle LH.

      • SST: 09960-20010 
        1. 09961-02010
      NOTE:
      • Apply molybdenum grease to the bolt threads and the tip of SST.
      • Be sure to tighten the string firmly to secure SST to the steering knuckle LH to prevent SST from falling off.
      • Install SST with the center nut so that (A) and (B) shown in the illustration are parallel. Otherwise, the ball joint dust cover may be damaged.
      • Be sure to place the wrench on the part shown in the illustration.
      • Do not damage the front disc brake dust cover.
      • Do not damage the ball joint dust cover.
      • Do not damage the steering knuckle LH.
  17. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  18. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [11/2018 - ]

  19. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  20. REMOVE REAR SIDE RAIL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [11/2018 - ]

  21. REMOVE REAR SIDE RAIL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  22. SUPPORT FCV TRANSAXLE WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22 [11/2018 - ]

  23. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24 [11/2018 - ]

  24. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  25. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26 [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26 [11/2018 - ]

  26. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the protrusion to remove the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly from the steering link assembly.

  27. REMOVE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT 
    1. Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft and steering link assembly.

    2. Remove the bolt and steering intermediate shaft from the steering link assembly.
  28. REMOVE STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and steering link assembly from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

  29. SECURE STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, secure the steering link assembly in a vise.
      • SST: 09612-00012

      *a Protective Tape

      HINT: 

      Wrap SST with protective tape before use.

  30. REMOVE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Put matchmarks on the tie rod end sub-assembly LH and steering gear assembly.

    2. Remove the tie rod end sub-assembly LH and lock nut.
  31. REMOVE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
