Removal [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  2. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

  3. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY BRACKET 
    1. Remove the bolt and throttle body bracket from the engine assembly.

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 SURGE TANK STAY 
    1. Remove the bolt and No. 1 surge tank stay from the engine assembly.

  5. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  6. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (TWC: Front Catalyst) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  7. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE 
    1. Remove the engine oil level dipstick.

    2. Remove the bolt and No. 2 engine oil level dipstick guide.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the No. 2 engine oil level dipstick guide.

  9. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  11. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (TWC: Front Catalyst) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  12. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  13. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting bracket RH.

  14. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and rear engine mounting bracket.

      *A for 2WD
      *B for 4WD
  15. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 5 bolts and V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly.

  16. REMOVE NO. 2 TIMING GEAR COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 timing gear cover.

  17. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY 
    1. Using SST, hold the water pump pulley.

      • SST: 09960-10010 
        1. 09962-01000
        2. 09963-00700
    2. Remove the 4 bolts and water pump pulley.
  18. REMOVE NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt, No. 2 idler pulley cover plate, No. 2 idler pulley sub-assembly and idler pulley cover plate.

  19. REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE 
    1. Remove the bolt and No. 1 vacuum switching valve.

  20. REMOVE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  21. REMOVE KNOCK CONTROL SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  22. REMOVE KNOCK CONTROL SENSOR WIRE 
    1. Disengage the 3 clamps and remove the knock sensor wire from the engine assembly.

  23. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3
