Removal [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2014 - 10/2015] Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2015 - ] ).

    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2014 - ] ).

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2014 - 10/2015] Refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2015 - ] ).

  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 ).

  4. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 ).

  5. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28

  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 34

  7. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT PLATE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 35

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 33

  9. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    When storing the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Remove the 3 bolts.

    4. Disengage the 3 claws to separate the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      NOTE:

      When removing the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

    5. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock.

    6. Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
