Removal [11/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (Refer to PRECAUTION [11/2015 - ] ).

    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [11/2015 - 06/2017] , or refer to PRECAUTION [06/2017 - ] ).

  2. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [11/2015 - 06/2017] , or refer to REMOVAL [06/2017 - ] )

  3. DISCONNECT NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Slide the 2 sliders to release the locks, and then disconnect the 2 connectors.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  4. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  5. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    When storing the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    1. Disengage the clamp from the upper instrument panel assembly.

    2. Disengage the clamp to separate the No. 2 instrument panel wire from the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly.

    3. Remove the 2 screws.

    4. Lean the upper instrument panel assembly and disengage the 3 hooks.

    5. Disengage the 3 hooks to remove the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly from the upper instrument panel assembly.

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 
    1. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, release the vent hole connector lock.

    2. Disconnect the vent hole connector from the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    3. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, release the 2 airbag connector locks.

    4. Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors to remove the No. 2 instrument panel wire from the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
