DTC P3107-214: Lost Communication with Airbag System Control Module [02/2014 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SRS AIRBAG) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output.
      Airbag system DTCs are output.
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:  2

    Airbag system DTCs are output. 

    GO TO DTC CHART (AIRBAG SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [02/2014 - ] 

    Result:  1

    Airbag system DTCs are not output.

  2. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    Result

    Proceed to

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Proceed to
      P3107-214 is not output.
      P3107-214 is output again.
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:  2

    P3107-214 is output again. 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

    P3107-214 is not output.

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [02/2014 - ]

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2016]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  6. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

    CONNECT SECURELY

  7. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (+B SHORT) 
    1. Remove the IG2-EFI fuse from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

    2. Remove the PM-IGCT fuse from the No. 3 engine room relay block.

    3. Remove the AM2 fuse and ECU-ACC fuse from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      *2 AM2 Fuse
      *3 ECU-ACC Fuse
    4. Disconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      F16-13 (ABFS) - F16-7 (AM21) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-13 (ABFS) - A60-4 (MREL) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-13 (ABFS) - A61-1 (IG2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-13 (ABFS) - A60-10 (ACCI) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    7. Install the AM2 fuse and ECU-ACC fuse.
    8. Install the PM-IGCT fuse.
    9. Install the IG2-EFI fuse.

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F16 power management control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Power Management Control ECU)
      *b Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Airbag Sensor Assembly)

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-13 (ABFS) - F38-14 (GSW2) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-13 (ABFS) or F38-14 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT: 

      As necessary, check that there are no wires shorted to power supply when performing the above wire harness inspection.

    4. Reconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the F16 power management control ECU connector.

      Result

  10. CHECK POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 
    1. Disconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-13 (ABFS) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the airbag sensor assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Reconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - ]

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY WIRES) 
    1. Remove the IG2-EFI fuse from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

    2. Remove the PM-IGCT fuse from the No. 3 engine room relay block.

    3. Remove the AM2 fuse and ECU-ACC fuse from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    4. Disconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.

    5. Disconnect the A60, A61, F15 and F16 power management control ECU connectors.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      F16-13 (ABFS) - F16-7 (AM21) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-13 (ABFS) - A60-4 (MREL) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-13 (ABFS) - A61-1 (IG2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-13 (ABFS) - A60-10 (ACCI) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    7. Reconnect the A60, A61, F15 and F16 power management control ECU connectors.
    8. Reconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    9. Install the AM2 fuse and ECU-ACC fuse.
    10. Install the PM-IGCT fuse.
    11. Install the IG2-EFI fuse.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2016]
