DTC P3107-214: Lost Communication with Airbag System Control Module [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SRS AIRBAG) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output.
      Airbag system DTCs are output.
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:  2

    Airbag system DTCs are output. 

    GO TO DTC CHART (AIRBAG SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [02/2014 - ] 

    Result:  1

    Airbag system DTCs are not output.

  2. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM) 

    See step  2

    Result

    Proceed to

  3. CLEAR DTC 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Proceed to
      P3107-214 is not output.
      P3107-214 is output again.
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:  2

    P3107-214 is output again. 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2016 - ] 

    Result:  1

    P3107-214 is not output.

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [02/2014 - ]

    Result

    Proceed to
    OK
    NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2016 - ] 

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  6. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

    Result

    NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    CONNECT SECURELY 

    Result:  1

    OK

  7. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Airbag Sensor Assembly)

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

      Result

      Proceed to

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F137 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)
      *b Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Airbag Sensor Assembly)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F137-14 (ABFS) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the airbag sensor assembly connector and the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F137-14 (ABFS) - F38-14 (GSW2) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F137-14 (ABFS) or F38-14 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT: 

      As necessary, check that there are no wires shorted to power supply when performing the above wire harness inspection.

    7. Reconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    8. Reconnect the F137 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:  2

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

  9. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F137-14 (ABFS) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the airbag sensor assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Reconnect the F38 airbag sensor assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - ] 

    Result:  2

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2016 - ]
